exploring the field museum of natural history

February 7th, 2009
by Michael

We took advantage of the Friday free day at the Chicago Field Museum yesterday. What a cool place! Aidan loved the “Underground Adventure” exhibit where we were magically shrunk one hundred times smaller than our actual size in order to explore life beneath the soil. What fun! We also took in everyone’s favorites–the “Evolving Planet” with all the cool dinosaur skeletons, the exhibit on ancient Egypt with the scary mummies, and the Native American exhibit.

As usual, taking decent photos in the museum is nearly an impossible task (for me anyway) with the poor lighting and glass cases. I managed to grab a few that aren’t too bad despite the need for high ISOs. I used my new 35mm f/2. The focal length was ideal, but I could have benefited from the additional speed of my 50mm f/1.4. Oh, well. Check the photos out below.

Fridays are free at the Field museum? Huzzah! Now I have an excuse to go. And every kid should have the look your son has when their in a museum. ^_^.

Erin – I don’t think every Friday is free. I think the second Monday of every month is free. Other than that, the free days seem to float around; sometimes they have a free week here and there. I’d call or check their web site before making the trip in the hopes of free admission :-) It’s a great place, though. Thanks for the comment.
